Humble beginnings
In early 2024 we identified a trend – many of our clients were adopting Product Management responsibilities, without any training or even awareness of this role.
Working in roles like marketing, operations, or entrepreneurship, clients were increasingly expected to gather understand multiple types of customers, wrangle multiple stakeholder requirements, and develop a pipeline of features and functionality for a website or digital platform.
We decided to create a series of blogs to outline a step-by-step process for incorporating Product Management techniques into non-PM roles. We received so much positive feedback from readers, we decided to build on the series with our first in-person event!
Our aim was to foster a community of learning and collaboration through snappy lightning talks, a dynamic group exercise, and an insightful panel discussion with talented and experienced product managers. We wanted to provide a friendly, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere to share new ideas and fresh perspectives, along with the chance to network with people facing similar challenges
We had a packed room of enthusiastic participants who explored new ways of working, and practised useful techniques, including UX and user research tips.
They delved into problem-framing, problem-solving, and brainstorming creative ideas. For many, this included conducting their first-ever user interview and using an empathy map to distil findings into actionable pains and gains, among many other valuable techniques.
We had the privilege of hearing from industry experts Lydia Hawthorn, Michael Palmer, Amelia Bampton and Franco Stasi, who shared their experiences and insights into successful product management strategies.

Great to join Huddle Digital yesterday for their Product Management event at Manchester Chamber of Commerce of Commerce.
It featured a number of insightful lightening talks on the Product Management discipline from different perspectives, followed by a chance for the audience to roll-up their sleeves and get into practical customer focused activities.
Event content that gets you motivated and excited to get back to work is top class.
There was plenty of content covered from productivity gains, to business transformation, how to test your hypotheses and how to accept that you might actually make mistakes and that’s okay.
Thoroughly enjoyed Huddle Digital’s ‘Think like a Product Manager’ event last week!
It was a great format, hearing from experts in their practice like Michael Palmer & Amelia Bampton and spending time working with peers on a group task.
